Our Services: Crowns & Bridges

Bridges improve many things.  They retore your smile, the ability to chew, speak and also maintain the shape of your face.  A bridge literally fills the gap of one or more missing teeth.  Bridges are made up of two ore more missing teeth, which are called abutments and pontics.  Abutments are the anchor teeth in which give the bridge the necessary support.  Pontics are the false tooth/teeth that replace the gap.  Our office places several bridges such as gold, porcelain, or a comibination of these materials.

The bridge process consists of two appointments.  The first appointment, the abutment teeth are prepared by removing all decay and enamel to allow room for bridge to fit properly.  Next the Doctor will take an impression to send to the lab in order to fabricate the permanent bridge.  A temporary bridge is placed to protect the exposed teeth and gums until the next appointment.

The second appointment, the Doctor will remove the temporary bridge.  Next, the permanent bridge will cemented into place.  The bridge will be adjusted where necessary to achieve proper fit.
